Recitals: Where Hard Work Meets Magic

  • Recitals are the most thrilling time of year — the moment when dedication, courage, and creativity take center stage. Each performance is a celebration of the student’s journey, where months of practice blossom into artistry shared with family, friends, and the community. It’s not just about playing notes; it’s about telling a story, expressing emotion, and discovering the joy of performing.

  • Students shine under the lights, sharing their love of music before an audience and, in many cases, competing for awards judged by a professional panel. Every performer receives a detailed rubric of feedback, scored on a 1–10 scale across five skill categories — a roadmap for growth and inspiration for the next chapter of their musical adventure.

  • To ensure every student feels supported and celebrated, performances are divided into two divisions:

  • Division 2 (D2): Beginners taking their first brave steps onto the stage.

  • Division 1 (D1): Intermediate and advanced students ready to dazzle with confidence and skill.

  • Each recital carries its own unique theme — from spring and fall showcases to Christmas celebrations, spooky costume events, and even The Grammys. No two are ever alike, and each one is designed to feel like a once‑in‑a‑lifetime experience.

  • A professional photographer captures every performer from multiple angles, ensuring families receive beautiful keepsakes included in the recital fee. Fees average around $100 per performer, varying slightly depending on event costs. A transparent recital budget is always posted online so families can see exactly how funds are used — from venue rental to décor, awards, and refreshments.

  • Past recitals have graced stages like The Ocotillo Theater, and the upcoming spring recital will be held at Yates Auditorium. Guests enjoy refreshments and beverages in the lobby during intermission while judges deliberate, and loved ones from afar can tune in via a private YouTube livestream to cheer on their performers.

  • Not everyone takes home a trophy, but everyone leaves with something far more lasting — pride, joy, and memories that sparkle for years to come.

  • My goal is simple yet profound: to make every recital a magical, unforgettable experience. I want each student to feel like a star — to stand tall, hear the applause, and know that their music matters.

  • Participation isn’t required, but it’s deeply encouraged. Because when a student steps onto that stage, they don’t just perform — they grow, they shine, and they discover the extraordinary power of sharing their gift with the world.
